SnapLogic launches Accelerator for Amazon HealthLake
Wed, 8th Jun 2022
FYI, this story is more than a year old

SnapLogic has launched Accelerator to allow healthcare and life sciences organisations to turn raw data into healthcare-related insights and actions.

The new offering is designed for Amazon HealthLake, which is powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), and will allow a range of raw data to be ingested into the platform to assist organisations in quickly connecting systems, automating processes, and accelerating analytics for greater security.

One of the features of the SnapLogic Accelerator for Amazon HealthLake is that it establishes a single platform for all healthcare input requirements and unlocks data from common on-premises legacy systems such as EPIC and Cerner.

“Healthcare and life sciences companies understand the powerful role that accurate, accessible data plays in a modern organisation,” SnapLogic products vice president Mark Gibbs says.

“The question is, how can they easily access the needed data and deliver quality insights that enable better hospital operations, faster drug research, better patient care, and more?

“With our new Accelerator, organisations can now significantly speed up application connectivity and data movement, making teams more productive and enabling them to harness all their data assets to drive the organisation forward.

Amazon HealthLake is a HIPAA-eligible service providing healthcare and life sciences companies with a complete view of individual or patient population health data for large scale queries and analytics.

It also enables healthcare providers, health insurance companies, and pharmaceutical companies to securely store, transform and share healthcare data in the cloud at petabyte scale.

“The goal of Amazon HealthLake is to make it easier for life sciences and healthcare agencies, organisations, researchers, and practitioners to collaborate and derive real, lasting value from the data that powers their operations, programs, and services,” AWS healthcare and life sciences general manager Dan Sheeran says.

“SnapLogic's accelerator will help facilitate the secure movement of and access to critical health data across an organisation, this becomes an easier task and the potential for time-to-value can be increased dramatically.

By loading data faster, SnapLogic helps provide businesses using Amazon HealthLake with clean, trusted data at scale and in real-time.

In addition, SnapLogic's API Management capabilities allow users to share the curated and valuable results with Amazon HealthLake that can be directly included in an organisation's dashboard of choice, helping them improve decision-making and accelerate results.

“The beauty of SnapLogic is its low-code simplicity and breadth of capability,” Cooperative Benefits Group senior data and integration engineer Davis Hansen says.

“We were able to build out an entire IT infrastructure with one data architect managing it on weekends.

“SnapLogic let us avoid having to recruit, train, and ramp up a full team which was critical to us as a new startup.

“We were able to do 95% of this with a one-person team in about three months.

“This process would have taken a much larger team at least 18 months with any other tool.

Benefits of the SnapLogic Accelerator for Amazon HealthLake include:

  • Modernising legacy systems

The platform creates what SnapLogic refers to as a “single source of truth” for patient data.

This enables organisations to improve patient care, use data to personalise treatment plans, and conduct clinical processes to their full potential by sharing data among providers, which also saves money.

  • Harnessing data

SnapLogic also assists companies in getting the best out of their relevant data to gain a 360-degree view of patients, gauge market signals, and make operations more efficient.

This offers greater revenue opportunities and furthers the company's community impact.

SnapLogic says the Accelerator also allows companies to strengthen patient engagement and improve billing and payments reconciliation through these offerings.

  • Accelerating innovation

Integrating data, applications, and systems allows organisations to garner the necessary insights to become more accurate, agile and scalable.

SnapLogic explains that gaining these insights will also lead to new drug innovations and therapies, expanding a company into new markets such as insurance or medical devices.

Securely integrating data in a HIPAA-compliant system and benchmarking patient metrics also transitions a business to value-based care.

Moreover, the SnapLogic Accelerator can also read and create fast healthcare interoperability resources compliant documents to send to or receive from Amazon HealthLake for analytics.
