Zella DC unveils modular Max data centre for flexible edge IT
Zella DC has introduced the new Zella Max modular data centre, designed to address demands for security, scalability, and flexibility in edge IT deployments.
The redefined Zella Max departs from earlier adaptations of shipping containers, now presenting a purpose-built, 20-foot modular unit engineered explicitly for data centre operations. The Zella Max offers two configurations: the Zella Max 4, featuring a one-door set-up capable of housing up to four Zella Pro micro data centres, and the Zella Max 6, with a two-door design that can accommodate up to six Zella Pro units and provides expanded aisle space and dual access.
The latest iteration of Zella Max features several enhancements aimed at supporting high-performance IT environments. The company stated, "The Zella Max has evolved from a retrofitted shipping container into a fully engineered modular structure, providing enhanced durability and a stronger framework."
The internal layout of the Zella Max has been redesigned to allow for more efficient use of floor space and easier equipment access. According to Zella DC, "The internal floor space has been optimised for better usability and easier access."
The product is described as multi-tenancy ready, with configurations to support shared environments and supply secure, independent access to each Zella Pro unit. The company commented, "The design can be configured for shared environments, offering secure and independent access to each unit."
Zella DC indicated that the manufacturing improvements behind the Zella Max enable streamlined production and swifter deployment. As stated in the press release, "The new design facilitates faster production and deployment without compromising quality."
Each Zella Pro unit within the Zella Max comes pre-installed with a suite of capabilities intended to facilitate immediate deployment and ongoing operation. Zella DC outlined, "Each Zella Pro inside the Max comes pre-installed with precision cooling, power systems, security features, and environmental monitoring – ready to deploy right out of the box."
Security is a core aspect, with Zella Max designed for "Advanced access control, surveillance, fire protection, and cybersecurity features provide enterprise-grade protection."
The company highlights the Zella Max's suitability for a wide variety of sites. "The Zella Max's compact footprint and rugged construction make it ideal for edge, remote, and space-constrained locations."
The modular structure of the Zella Max allows users to scale their infrastructure as needed, with the option to increase the number of internal Zella Pro units from four up to six. "You can easily grow your infrastructure without overprovisioning. You can scale up from 4 to 6 Zella Pro units as needed," the company said.
Among the operational details cited in the announcement, each Zella Pro in the Max is fully sealed and self-contained, reducing the risk posed by dust and contaminants and removing the necessity for internal airlock systems. According to Zella DC, "Each Zella Pro is fully sealed and self-contained, protecting equipment from dust and contaminants without requiring internal airlock systems."
From an environmental perspective, Zella Max incorporates energy-efficient cooling and is compatible with solar power. Zella DC stated, "Energy-efficient cooling and solar compatibility reduce environmental impact and operating costs."
The Zella Max has been described by the company as continuing "to push the boundaries of modular data centre design, giving businesses a reliable, high-performance solution for edge computing and beyond."
