VMware hones focus on APAC following two key appointments

VMware's ‘multi-cloud vision' will be more tightly focused on the Asia Pacific region this year, following the appointment of two senior executives for the company's regional activities.

VMware has appointed Southeast Asia and Korea vice president and managing director Paul Simos, as well as Asia Pacific and Japan leader for strategic pursuits practice, Sachin Shridhar.

The two executives will be responsible for working with businesses in Asia Pacific to shape a multi-cloud strategy and embrace new ways of working.

According to VMware Asia Pacific and Japan senior vice president and general manager, Duncan Hewett, both new appointments are industry leaders with deep expertise.

“[They] have successfully driven customer and partner engagement in the region. They have also made VMware a strategic advisor to our valued customers as we continue to enhance their technology roadmaps in today's digital economy. I am delighted to have them both as we continue to bolster our customers' and partners' digital transformation journeys with next-gen cloud, digital workspace, security and modern application solutions.

Specifically, Paul Simos will work with customers and partners to develop and drive relationships, advise on strategy, and deliver solutions that align with those strategies.  Simos will also help to grow the company's expertise in hybrid and multi-cloud adoption, as well as app modernization, digital workspace platforms, networking, and security.

Simos says key growth regions in Asia Pacific include Southeast Asia and Korea. “The vibrant economies and the diversity of the region has made it into a hub of innovation as the region accelerates on the path of a digital future. I am excited to have the opportunity to lead VMware's vision of transforming customers in their journey to multi cloud and modernising applications.

Shridhar will support the company's enterprise business efforts in the region, particularly in areas such as app transformation and accelerating customers' cloud journeys.

Shridhar says Asia Pacific and Japan customers seek digital transformation, as well as hybrid and multi-cloud and modern applications.

"The increased uptake in hybrid and multi-cloud adoption is helping unlock opportunities to drive innovation and agility while advancing key strategic business enhancement initiatives in the region.

"Digital transformation by modernising applications and harnessing the power of multi-cloud has become an imperative for businesses to capture long-term growth and develop resiliency in today's digital economy. I'm looking forward to working closely with our valued customers and partners in empowering businesses in the region to leverage cutting-edge solutions to supercharge their next phase of growth.
