ServiceNow partners Republic Polytechnic for AI & cloud upskilling

ServiceNow has announced a new National Academic Partnership with Republic Polytechnic aimed at enhancing access to AI and cloud computing roles for early career and lifelong learners in Singapore.

This initiative supports the government's Smart Nation agenda by equipping students with skills in emerging technologies.

The announcement coincides with ServiceNow's launch of its inaugural National Skills research, conducted in collaboration with Pearson. The research indicates that 15 percent of the new jobs created in Singapore will require skills in AI and emerging technologies. By 2028, 361,000 new jobs are expected to be created in the country, with over 55,000 specifically in technology roles. The ICT, Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Professional Services sectors are anticipated to see the most significant job growth.

According to the research, jobs in Singapore could also benefit from the most considerable time savings globally by using AI at work. Wee Luen Chia, Managing Director and Group Vice President of ServiceNow Asia, stated, "Jobs in Singapore can look to save up to 14 hours a week. Local-based roles such as system administrators, developers, business process analysts, architects, and implementation consultants will receive a greater time boost compared to equivalent jobs overseas."

Chia further added, "Everyone can find valuable time savings by putting AI to work, every day. The national productivity gains this will deliver to business, government agencies, and the economy is unparalleled. Not to mention the freedom this delivers to people to focus on innovating, growing business, and furthering their skills."

In the past 12 months, ServiceNow has trained 1,900 Singaporeans on its platform, offering more than 600 free courses and 18 job-related certification paths.

The partnership will see the launch of a collaborative course in October within Republic Polytechnic's Diploma in Enterprise Cloud Computing & Management and Diploma in Information Technology. These programmes aim to prepare students for high-demand careers in development, digital project management, and business digitalisation. The course will also connect students with job opportunities at ServiceNow, providing access to careers with leading enterprises both within Singapore and globally.

Wai Ling Wong, Director of the School of Infocomm at Republic Polytechnic, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "As we embrace Singapore's Smart Nation vision, we are excited to collaborate with world-class AI partners like ServiceNow to offer accessible, high-quality, and industry-recognised skills. Through this collaboration, we aim to equip Singaporeans with job-ready skills that align with in-demand roles across the nation."

The initiative builds on ServiceNow's existing skilling commitments in partnership with various organisations including NTUC LearningHub, VITAL Shared Services, Singapore's HealthTech agency Synapxe, GovTech, Accenture, Fujitsu, NCS, and Tata Consultancy Services.

The research predicts significant job growth across several strategic industries in the coming years. These include 33,400 new jobs in Telecommunications, Media, and Technology; 29,300 in Financial Services; 15,600 in Healthcare; 10,900 in Manufacturing; 3,900 in Professional Services; and 300 in Travel.

Technology roles like computer and information systems managers, software application developers, and data analysts are expected to see considerable growth.

Over 2,200 new technical project managers and 1,500 new application developers will also be required to support the country's digital infrastructure and service delivery.
