Kelsey Hightower joins Civo's board to shape cloud future
Kelsey Hightower, a prominent figure in cloud computing, has joined the board of Civo, the cloud provider has announced.
Kelsey Hightower, celebrated for his previous role as a Distinguished Engineer at Google, is known for his significant contributions to Kubernetes and cloud computing. At Google, Hightower was involved in co-founding the KubeCon conference and co-authoring "Kubernetes Up and Running". His expertise is expected to guide Civo as it advances its private cloud and AI offerings.
Hightower has a long-standing history with several key organisations in the tech industry, including Puppet and CoreOS, and his approach to developing accessible, developer-centric tools is seen as well-aligned with Civo's objectives. His appointment comes as part of Civo's efforts to further its vision of providing a cloud platform that prioritises speed and ease of use.
Kelsey Hightower remarked, "When I first learned about Civo, I was excited by their vision for the future of cloud computing. Their focus on removing complexity and empowering developers and operators mirrors many of the principles I've championed throughout my career. The fact these standards extend across Civo's private and public cloud service is so important. No one should have to sacrifice the benefits of cloud computing and technology advancements based on where they chose to host their infrastructure. Civo isn't just building another cloud, it's building the right cloud based on the fundamentals that level the playing field for companies big and small. I believe in their mission and look forward to helping them scale their vision."
Civo's Chief Executive Officer, Mark Boost, expressed enthusiasm about Hightower's new role. Boost commented, "Kelsey's experience and leadership have helped shape the very fabric of the cloud-native ecosystem. His insights will help us stay true to our user-first ethos as we continue to grow and offer enterprises the cloud experience they truly deserve."
This strategic leadership move is seen as a pivotal point in Civo's ongoing development, aiming to champion an open cloud ecosystem where users have the freedom to expand without constraints. With Hightower's involvement, Civo hopes to extend its approach to cloud computing to a broader audience.
