Hitachi Vantara launches new data solutions for AI needs

Hitachi Vantara has unveiled new solutions within its Virtual Storage Platform One data platform that address the needs of organisations managing AI and analytics workloads.

The newly launched suite includes a quad-level cell (QLC) flash storage array with public cloud replication capabilities and an object storage appliance.

These solutions aim to simplify storage and data management for enterprises, ensuring they remain adaptable in an environment where data plays a central role.

As organisations continue to grapple with the escalating complexities and costs associated with hybrid and multi-cloud environments, the surge in data volume is reshaping the technological landscape. A recent survey highlighted that growing data volumes lead to increased computation demands and expenses, with more than two-thirds of organisations experiencing significant cost shocks on a regular basis.

The introduction of the all-QLC flash storage array is noted for its scalability and reduced cost per gigabyte, presenting a cost-efficient solution without compromising performance for those with substantial data storage requirements.

Hitachi Vantara's engineering efforts have emphasised reliability with dual port QLC media ensuring data availability even in the event of hardware malfunctions. The QLC storage technology offers higher density and improved energy efficiency compared to conventional storage solutions, aiding organisations in decreasing their energy consumption and carbon footprint.

Adding to this, the new object storage appliance is built to scale with the increasing amounts of unstructured data prevalent in AI-driven uses. Each data object is stored with detailed metadata, simplifying data categorisation, search, and lifecycle management, facilitating efficient data retrieval.

The Virtual Storage Platform One Block offers the all-QLC flash storage array with public cloud replication, creating a cost-effective storage solution geared toward extensive capacity needs. This solution allows seamless data backup and replication to the cloud, enhancing disaster recovery and data availability.

Meanwhile, the Virtual Storage Platform One Object provides a scalable solution for managing large volumes of unstructured data associated with AI workloads. Its reliability is assured by multi-node configurations which maintain data integrity and availability, catering to sectors such as media, healthcare, and finance.

As a result, users can optimise costs, cut down on rack space, power consumption, and CO2 emissions.

The array complements Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Cloud, which secures critical data with no performance impacts and enables seamless data replication from on-premises to AWS cloud environments. This solution supports multiple availability zones, thus enhancing operational resilience and simplifying database expansion.

Hitachi Vantara's commitment to energy efficiency is evident with the new QLC flash storage array being recognised by ENERGY STAR as among the top three storage solutions for energy-efficient performance.
