Hitachi Vantara improves features on Virtual Storage Platform

Hitachi Vantara has announced updated features for its Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One), aiming to improve data management capabilities for businesses.

VSP One is a data platform designed to simplify and centralize data management, addressing the increasing demand for better storage solutions as global cloud spending is projected to reach USD $1.3 trillion by 2025, according to IDC. These updates present businesses with options to optimize storage costs, minimize environmental impacts, and enhance operational resilience.

Initially launched in April 2024, VSP One tackles the challenges of fragmented systems and data silos. The platform now includes an all-QLC flash array and a scalable object storage appliance solution to handle large-scale data efficiently.

The platform aims to unify storage, management, and security across various environments, including on-premises, cloud, and edge settings. With these updates, the platform offers a streamlined approach to data infrastructure.

One of the key features introduced is the Virtual Storage Platform One Block, an all-QLC flash array offering high-density storage that is 30% more energy-efficient than traditional flash storage. This array utilises dual-port QLC media for consistent data access and features integrated public cloud replication for backup and disaster recovery.

Furthermore, VSP One Object is a scalable appliance tailored for industries like media, healthcare, and finance, which require efficient management of vast unstructured data sets. The solution enhances metadata capabilities for better data categorization and retrieval.

The launch of these updates underscores Hitachi Vantara's aim to support organizations in simplifying infrastructure management, securing data, and achieving sustainability. Enterprises can leverage the platform's unified data plane to address growing data volumes while focusing on innovation.
