ST Telemedia expands with construction of STT Bangkok 2

Today

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Thailand) has announced the commencement of construction on its third data centre facility, STT Bangkok 2, located within the STT Bangkok Data Centre Campus.

The new facility aims to provide 24 megawatts (MW) of IT power, featuring dual feeds to enhance reliability. The construction is now underway, with the data centre expected to be ready for service by the fourth quarter of 2026.

STT Bangkok 2 will support next-generation computing requirements, offering streamlined deployment for liquid cooling systems tailored to manage high-density and AI workloads. The facility's hybrid cooling environment can accommodate both air and liquid cooling options, granting customers flexibility to suit their specific needs.

The new data centre is also designed to handle a broad range of computing demands, adaptable to swift changes in computing technology and workloads. This flexibility is seen as key in maintaining alignment with the industry's evolving needs.

Budsarin Pradityont, Country Head at ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (Thailand), stated, "We are thrilled to commence construction on STT Bangkok 2, which marks a significant milestone in our commitment to supporting Thailand's digital transformation. This new facility will not only enhance our capacity to meet the growing demand for advanced digital infrastructure but also reinforce our position as a leading provider in the region."

The development of STT Bangkok 2 is instrumental in STT GDC's strategic expansion within Thailand and its broader initiative to develop AI-ready data centres across Asia's emerging markets. The company intends to solidify its leadership position in the region's rapidly advancing digital economy.

"Combining STT GDC's global data centre development and operational expertise with experience supporting AI workloads, STT Bangkok 2 is poised to cater to the evolving needs of our customers, particularly in high-density and AI-driven environments," Budsarin Pradityont added.

STT Bangkok 2 builds on the foundation laid by STT Bangkok 1, the company's first data centre in Thailand, operational since September 2021 with an IT capacity of 22MW. The two facilities together form the STT Bangkok Data Centre Campus, providing up to 46MW of IT capacity and allowing businesses ample room to scale their operations in one strategic location.

This expanded campus ensures STT GDC Thailand can offer businesses the flexibility needed to grow their IT infrastructure in an AI-ready, carrier-neutral environment.

Additionally, STT Bangkok 3, located within the One Bangkok district, provides an additional 2MW of IT capacity. Collectively, these developments underscore STT GDC's strong market foothold in Thailand, positioned to meet the increasing demand for advanced data services in the region's expanding digital landscape.
