Colt launches On Demand SDN services in Japan

20 Oct 2017

Colt Technology Services today announced the launch of its SDN-based On Demand Services in Japan.

The introduction of the On Demand portfolio marks the latest development in Colt’s heightened activity in Asia.

Since January of this year, the company has unveiled several large-scale expansion projects in the APAC region, solidifying its position as a leader in providing intelligent connectivity with both the scalability and flexibility to satisfy high-bandwidth cloud-based applications.   With Colt On Demand Services, enterprises will have the ability to create and modify connections and bandwidth in near real-time through the Colt IQ Network customer portal.

Customers will no longer need to wait through long lead times in service procurement and delivery.

Furthermore, the new services give users more choice with both fixed-term and pay-as-you-go usage plans.   On top of the On Demand Services launch, Colt has announced the debut of its 50th Metro Area Network (MAN) in Nagoya, comprising both the latest in Optical and Ethernet-based architecture.

The Nagoya MAN will provide availability to the city’s key commercial districts.

Including Nagoya, the Colt IQ Network now boasts on-net routes with true end-to-end connectivity across 28 countries and over 200 cities across the world, including Tokyo, Sydney, Busan, Chicago, New York, London, Frankfurt, Paris, and others.   Kenji Hioki, Colt Technology Services Asia President and regional executive says, “This past January, we announced a 3-year investment plan in Asia. Since then, we’ve expanded our presence with Metro Area Networks in Singapore, Hong Kong, and now Nagoya.

“On top of that, we’ve launched On Demand Services in Japan. We continue to provide connectivity infrastructure that the market demands with the speed, security, and reliability today’s enterprises need.”

Colt aims to be the leader in enabling customers’ digital transformation through agile and on-demand, high bandwidth solutions.

The Colt IQ Network connects over 800 data centres across Europe, Asia and North America’s largest business hubs, with over 25,000 on-net buildings and growing.

Colt’s customers include data-intensive organisations spanning over 200 cities in nearly 30 countries.

Colt is a recognised innovator and pioneer in software-defined networks (SDN) and network function virtualisation (NFV).
