Midwest Telecommunications firm Bluebird Network has completed its fiber expansion in Jefferson City, Missouri, bringing new options for fiber-based internet and transport for local governments, businesses, and wireless towers in the area.
Bluebird Network chose to build the 26-mile-long fiber network completely underground to protect it from natural disasters such as tornadoes, and to ensure that its service is reliable.
Bluebird Network has made a name for itself as a high-speed internet services and transport provider throughout the Midwest. The company has now built more than 9300 fiber route miles and stays committed to building more fiber densification projects over the next several years.
Last month the company completed its 61-mile-long fiber expansion and investment in Springfield, Missouri.
“Bluebird Network is proud to provide cutting-edge Ethernet and internet connectivity to businesses in Springfield that span the healthcare industry, governmental agencies, financial institutions, wireless providers and other businesses within the community,” says Bluebird Network president and CEO Michael Morey.
“Our agility and reach have enabled us to rapidly respond and deploy new fiber services and products as we continue our expansion in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and surrounding states.
The fiber build in Springfield is here, it is complete, and Bluebird is ready to deploy services.
Bluebird Underground customers are also able to leverage fiber connections to hosted cloud service providers such as AWS, Google, Microsoft, Oracle and IBM.
The company also has more than 150 Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in cities throughout the Midwest, including Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield (MO and IL), Tulsa, Peoria, Rockford, Bloomington, Normal and the Quad Cities.
The Points-of-Presence offer networking and connectivity options for Midwest businesses and communities.

Bluebird Networks' fiber network also connects to the company's Underground Data Center which is in Springfield, Missouri. Bluebird Networks acquired the underground data center in 2014.
The data center is 85 feet underground and operates at a consistent year-round temperature of 64-68 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bluebird Network states that it also aims to expand its reach in under-served areas. The company's network capabilities can deliver speeds of up to 100 gigabytes through services including dedicated internet access, virtual LAN and wide area networking capabilities.
