Acronis announces new partnership with Google Cloud

Tue, 6th Mar 2018
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Acronis today announced a new strategic partnership with Google Cloud and revealed its intentions to enhance its backup solutions by integrating with the tech giant.

Acronis says the partnership is a logical step in company's commitment to providing partners and customers both the most comprehensive data protection and most flexible data management options available.

For Acronis it's another one to the list as its data protection solutions already offer native integration with a number of public cloud vendors, popular hosting automation platforms, and remote monitoring and management tools.

The agreement with Google Cloud will significantly increase the number of cloud regions where Acronis' partners and customers can store their data, in addition to fast upload speeds and data sovereignty to users in a greater number of countries.

Future releases of Acronis' backup, disaster recovery, and file sync and share solutions will be integrated with Google Cloud Platform, with the enhancements purported to allow partners to grow their business by offering easy and fast data protection services to millions of customers who already use Google Cloud Platform.

"The integration of Google Cloud with Acronis backup products is one of the top requests from our users," says Acronis president John Zanni.

"There are many businesses who have invested in public cloud infrastructure. We're making it easy for them to use it with Acronis.

Zanni says further benefits of the easy access to Google Cloud Platform include users being able to reduce their Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and achieve Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets, especially in disaster recovery situations.

Acronis asserts the partnership effectively provides new opportunities and flexibility for partners who will be able to help customers meet their data protection needs by running on Google Cloud Platform – and the benefits aren't just for Acronis, as Google will welcome thousands of Acronis' partners and potentially expand its penetration in the mid-market.

"We are seeing an increasing number of customers take advantage of our storage products for data protection because they offer better flexibility, performance and economics," says Google Cloud strategic technology partners director Adam Massey.

"By partnering with Acronis, an established leader in the industry, we hope to make the customers data protection journey even easier.
