One of Europe's mover and shakers in the data center industry has popped the champagne to celebrate ‘topping out' at its new Frankfurt Two data center.

Zenium held a ceremony at the site that was attended by Zenium CEO and founder Franek Sodzawiczny and construction partner Lupp Group managing director Thilo Moser.

The Frankfurt Two project began just a year ago and is on schedule to provide cloud providers, system integrators and large enterprises with a “fully customised, energy efficient, carrier neutral environment that will deliver the capacity and connectivity they require.”

Zenium has already managed to secure a pre-let contract for 8.7MW of power with global IT services companies at the new data center.

“Agility is essential in the data center industry,” says Sodzawiczny.

“The ability to identify opportunities and to deliver solutions that directly address the business needs of our customers is key to our success. We are delighted to be bringing to market this purpose-built and highly efficient data center.”

The facility is located in Sossenheim, with Zenium claiming Frankfurt Two will deliver 17.6 MW of IT power to 7,500 square metres of technical space housed over five floors providing highly resilient, concurrently maintainable power and cooling to Tier III+ standards.

“Lupp Group has executed brilliantly against a very specific brief,” says Sodzawiczny.

“We definitely selected the best construction partner for the job. The team has been efficient, reliable and committed at all times.”

Zenium has confirmed that construction will begin on a third data center in Frankfurt (called Frankfurt Three believe it or not) in the fourth quarter of this year, after purchasing 6.8 acres of freehold land from DATA-Center Frankfurt West Gmbh earlier this year.

The greenfield site is directly adjoining to Zenium's existing data centers and is set to house two attached data centers rising four stories and offering a total of 11,000 square metres of technical space,  providing a total IT load of 22 MW.

And just last month the company announced the acquisition of a facility on the Slough Trading Estate, which will be its third data center in the UK and consequently earning it the name London Three. The data center will offer 3,670 square metres of technical space with an IT load of 9 MW.

Also occurring this year, Zenium was acquired by CyrusOne for USD$442 million. It's all happening at Zenium!
