Tue, 18th Jun 2024

Recognised for outstanding performance, visionary leadership, and a client-centred approach, STT GDC Thailand has earned Frost & Sullivan's 2024 Thai Company of the Year Award in the data centre colocation services industry. The accolade was announced following Frost & Sullivan's analysis of the industry, which highlighted ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Thailand's (STT GDC Thailand) exemplary service offerings.

As a joint venture between Frasers Property (FPL) and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), a key subsidiary of Temasek, STT GDC Thailand is dedicated to providing comprehensive data centre solutions. These solutions assist clients in adapting dynamically to changing environments and meeting the growing demand for colocation, connectivity, and support services.

STT GDC Thailand operates two Tier III operational carrier-neutral data centres in Bangkok, specifically in the Hua Mak and Pathumwan districts (STT Bangkok 1 and STT Bangkok 3), with an additional centre under development (STT Bangkok 2). These facilities offer over 42 MW of capacity and are strategically located to support the high demand for digital services.

STT Bangkok 1, situated on Thailand's STT Bangkok hyperscale data centre campus, addresses the increasing need for digital infrastructure driven by the proliferation of rich media and the digital transformation of businesses and government entities. The upcoming STT Bangkok 2 will provide an additional 20+ MW with build-to-suit colocation services tailored for high-density and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. Meanwhile, STT GDC Thailand's Bangkok 3 offers carrier density and low latency capabilities, ideal for companies requiring quick and reliable access to data, applications, and cloud services.

Nishchal Khorana, an industry analyst at Frost & Sullivan, commented on STT GDC Thailand's operational standards. "STT GDC Thailand places a high value on the safety of its operations and utilises its technology to promote a culture of transparency in reporting and communication. It focuses on establishing best practices for data centre colocation, including conducting safety talks and risk assessments to drive better operations," Khorana said.

STT GDC Thailand has also been prominent in supporting disruptive technologies like liquid cooling. Its AI-ready facilities are well-positioned to join the data centre colocation industry in its next phase of growth. Additionally, STT Bangkok 1 currently accommodates an NVIDIA cloud provider tenant, further showcasing its advanced technological capabilities.

Marcos Ainchil, Best Practices Research Analyst at Frost & Sullivan, also praised the company's efforts. "STT GDC Thailand's facilities offer carrier neutrality, operational excellence, and various connectivity options, making it an ideal choice for businesses seeking advanced data centre solutions. The company led the way in forming the Thailand Data Center Council (TDCC) to address the need for consistent and stable data centre policies," Ainchil stated.

Each year, Frost & Sullivan's Company of the Year award recognises organisations that demonstrate excellence in growth strategy and implementation within their field. The award honours significant innovation in products and technologies, along with leadership in customer value and market penetration. Industry analysts at Frost & Sullivan compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analyses, and extensive secondary research to identify best practices within the industry.
