Pure Data Centres & LOGOS to construct Jakarta hyperscale facility
Thu, 17th Jun 2021
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Pure Data Centers and logistics firm LOGOS are building a new data center in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. The hyperscale facility will span 20,000 square meters and deliver 20 megawatts of power.

Expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2022, the data center will be designed to meet the needs of cloud service providers and colocation partners in Indonesia and Asia Pacific.  It will also help Jakarta to be a larger player in the global technology scene.

Pure Data Centers CEO Martin Lynch says Jakarta has a large population of internet users, a rapidly growing economy, and a ‘stable of tech unicorns'.

“We have confidence in the growth of cloud services in this market and are pleased to help facilitate our
customers' continued expansion here,” says Lynch.

LOGOS states that it's the company's first data center development project in Indonesia, which it sees as an important and new strategic region as it grows its global footprint.

LOGOS managing director Stephen Hawkins says the company is pushing ahead with its investment in the growing data center sector, alongside Pure Data Centers.

Hawkins says that online commerce is driving demand for critical cloud infrastructure that can support organisations' expansion efforts and customer requirements.

“Existing logistics properties are, in many cases, well-suited to accommodate the mix of power and network fiber connectivity supporting data center businesses, and our new data center is a great example of this.

LOGOS managing director and CEO Trent Iliffe says that the company also sees strong demand from new and current capital partners that want to invest in the company's Green Data Center initiative.

“[We] believe there are many opportunities across the region to support our customers' complex needs in this underserved but rapidly expanding market.
