New data centre campus coming to Suryacipta City of Industry

FYI, this story is more than a year old

BDx Indonesia has unveiled its plan to develop a new 100MW data centre campus on 12 acres of land strategically located in the Suryacipta City of Industry.

The new data centre campus, CGK5, is located east of Jakarta in Karawang, West Java, and will become part of BDx Indonesia's third availability zone (AZ).

The central location of CGK5 is positioned only 45 minutes away from the airport and 30 minutes from Central Jakarta, which will allow it to offer convenient connectivity capabilities to the area's robust business district, which serves as a core for several major industries.

Additionally, the city's business district has access to a smart power grid to provide consistently available and redundant, uninterrupted electric power to its customers.

Suryacipta City of Industry is one of Indonesia's most sought-after and fully integrated smart industrial estates, and BDx Indonesia has acquired the land from PT Suryacipta Swadaya (Suryacipta), a member of Suryainternusa Group.

BDx Indonesia is a joint venture company of Big Data Exchange (BDx), PT Indosat Tbk (Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison), and PT Aplikanusa Lintasarta.

CGK5 will complement BDx Indonesia's four existing data centres in and around the capital city of Jakarta, and combined, these data centres will provide location diversity and a network-dense interconnection ecosystem for hyperscale customers.

The BDx Indonesia joint venture is crucial to the whole BDx platform, and CGK5's development marks the 11th data centre for BDx throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Further, BDx has seen significant growth in Asia, with a committed equity capital of over $1 billion, which will allow for large-scale innovation in the most demanding regions.

"As we prepare to break ground on our 100MW greenfield Suryacipta campus in this dynamic market, BDx Indonesia upholds its commitment to support Digital Indonesia and continue its rapid journey of expansion and innovation," says Mayank Srivastava, CEO of BDx and Interim President Director of BDx Indonesia.

"Being the only data center provider offering three availability zones, we are proud to provide our hyperscale and enterprise customers with the highest level of capacity and connectivity, world-class data center operations together with sustainable solutions supporting their growth in this region."

CGK5 will be built with cutting-edge technology based on a proprietary standard basis of design that caters specifically to the requirements of BDx's customers across existing and new locations worldwide.

Focusing in particular on sustainability as part of its design process, the facility will use a range of innovative technologies to support BDx Indonesia's ESG goals as well as those of its customers.

"Congratulations to BDx Indonesia. Suryacipta is proud to be chosen as the home of the new data center campus, CGK5. We look forward to the new opportunities this new facility will provide across this market," says Abednego Purnomo, Sales & Marketing Vice President, Suryacipta.

Moreover, by continuously transforming the estate's digital infrastructures, Suryacipta has become a more trusted destination, and a range of international data centres put their faith in the company to grow Indonesia's digital economy.

"BDx's commitment showed our readiness to accommodate large-scale data centers and generate positive sentiment in the market," Purnomo adds.
