Ho Chi Minh City's healthcare bolsters patient care with digital system
Fri, 1st Dec 2023

The Department of Health in Ho Chi Minh City has introduced a digital communication system created by TrueConf Server to enhance patient care and minimise the risk of medical errors. The system connects the healthcare administration with over 100 affiliated hospitals around the city and significantly improves internal communication among more than 660 medical personnel at the city's oncology hospital.

In a bid to transform the quarterly medical examination and treatment briefings into an online model, the department sought to digitalise communications, thereby linking more than a hundred hospitals in the network. Acknowledging the necessity for a cohesive communication strategy, the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital implemented this video communication solution to coordinate their efforts and adopt more effective treatment protocols.

A key requirement for the system was secure on-premises storage of communication data to keep patients' confidential information private and free from unauthorised access or blockage by service providers. Another important aspect was top-quality performance, ensuring the video conferencing platform provided crisp audio and video without disruptions, even during unstable internet connections.

In response to these requirements, the TrueConf Server was securely deployed on hospital premises, ensuring all communications remained private within the organisation. The system utilises encryption protocols that make data breaches impossible. This video collaboration system enables medical professionals to schedule meetings and medical consultations on the go, a particularly crucial feature for making immediate treatment decisions.

Through the AI-based client applications for Windows, MacOS and Linux, the system allows IT professionals to record video calls and conferences, storing them on the server to ease patient handover. It further enables medical staff to share screens and visualise files such as PET-CT or MRI images, all essential for establishing more precise diagnoses.

For the 660 medical staff at the City Oncology Hospital, this new video collaboration system removed barriers to communication and increased the speed and efficiency of healthcare services. The system not only reduces unnecessary face-to-face contact but also saves valuable work time, allowing staff to provide a more competitive response to patient needs.

Mr. Tat Ho, IT Manager of Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, spoke about the distinct advantages of the TrueConf video conferencing software. He noted, "TrueConf brings premium and proficient online meeting solutions, supporting Vietnamese enterprises, organisations and businesses. When participating in online briefings with the Department of Health, Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital is experiencing outstanding features of TrueConf video conferencing software."

"Thanks to TrueConf's interactive tools, communication transcends conventional boundaries, making digital interactions feel as authentic and effortless as face-to-face meetings."

TrueConf Server has had a marked improvement in the quality and performance of patient care, medical examination, and treatment activities in the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital. The system has played a significant role in raising the quality of patient care and nearly abolishing the risk of medical errors.
