Cyxtera adds HPE ProLiant Servers to CXD on-demand data center platform
Secure infrastructure company Cyxtera Technologies has announced the addition of HPE ProLiant servers as an on-demand compute option through its Cyxtera Extensible Data Center (CXD) platform.
CXD gives customers point-and-click provisioning over a range of connectivity and infrastructure services from Cyxtera and a global partner ecosystem.
Available across Cyxtera's CXD-enabled global data centers, CXD Compute offerings, including Nutanix-powered HCI nodes as well as the new bare metal offering, allow customers to quickly provision compute capacity on-demand to augment existing colocation environments, rapidly expand into new markets, or build private cloud environments.
"CXD is an intelligent, software-defined platform that enables companies to procure and connect data center services in minutes, combining cloud agility and consumption economics with the control, performance, and security of globally scalable private infrastructure," says Cyxtera data center services president Randy Rowland.
"Cyxtera's newest on-demand compute option empowers customers to quickly and cost-effectively break the traditional bulk deployment of colocation and provision dedicated bare metal servers at the rack level on a per node basis.
"Customers retain complete control of the environment to customise HCI or hypervisor configurations and get the degree of security their enterprise applications require.
Cyxtera's new offering provides options for applications that typically run in legacy on-premises data centers or are not a fit for public cloud economics and multi-tenancy environments.
The benefits of CXD bare metal infrastructure include:
- Available on-demand and deployed within minutes from the CXD Command Center or API
- Consumption-based pricing on a per node basis only pay for deployed nodes
- Just-in-time capacity provisioning avoids over-provisioning and reduces costs
- Available in a variety of configurations designed to meet a broad range of workload needs
- Seamless network integration enables customers to extend existing colocation environments across data centers within a market
- Full access to the Cyxtera Marketplace and CXD-Powered member services via CXD
"We see a growing demand of HPE ProLiant servers to address IT requirements that public cloud service offerings cannot, including latency-sensitive enterprise applications and complete security experiences through the HPE-exclusive silicon root of trust technology," says HPE Hybrid IT chief technologist Jason White.
"By collaborating with Cyxtera to offer its on-demand capabilities with CXD infrastructure, partners and customers can easily deploy HPE ProLiant servers while gaining the flexibility to support various workloads.
CXDs bare metal infrastructure can lower dedicated infrastructure costs 25 to 50%.
It can also increase IT staff productivity with powerful, rapid, remote configuration and deployment features, eliminating the need to work at the data center and dramatically improving deployment times.
