Cohesity named as Leader in Gartner Enterprise Backup and Recovery Software Solutions
Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup and Recovery Software Solutions has positioned Cohesity in the Leaders Quadrant for the second year in a row.
Cohesity was ranked as a leader based on its ability to execute and completeness of vision.
Gartner analysis is based on vendors' established market presence, financial performance, thought and IP leadership, as well as 'well-articulated plans for enhancing recovery capabilities, improving ease of deployment and administration, and increasing their scalability and product breadth'.
Backup and recovery solutions are considered by Gartner to be ones that capture a backup of an enterprise workload, and then write the data to a secondary storage device for the purpose of recovery after data loss.
Cohesity chief marketing officer Lynn Lucas says that Gartner's recognition of Cohesity as a leader speaks to the company's strengths in delivering next-generation data management.
"[This] starts with helping organisations protect their data and rapidly recover from ransomware attacks – critically important in today's world.
Lucas adds, "Couple that with the ability to easily back up, recover, and manage data across a host of use cases – in the data center, edge, cloud, or through as a service, all on one platform – that is radical simplicity at its best.
This year the company has focused on ransomware recovery and protection, backup as a service (BaaS), and automated disaster recovery.
Cohesity BaaS is delivered through Cohesity DataProtect, a software as a service (SaaS) offering available in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Canada, and the United States. In six months, Cohesity has expanded workload protection to platforms such as Amazon EC2 virtual instances and compute infrastructure, Amazon RDS cloud databases, Microsoft Exchange Online, OneDrive, and Teams, SQL Server, and VMware.
Cohesity SiteContinuity offers automated data recovery through its integration with Cohesity snapshot-based backup, continuous data protection, and automated failover/failback orchestration capabilities.
The web-scale solution protects applications across tiers, service levels, and locations on a single platform. The company says this helps address enterprise concerns about losing data to ransomware attacks, natural disasters, and human error. It also allows strict service level agreements.
Cohesity was also recognised as a Customers' Choice in the Gartner Peer Insights 'Voice of the Customer': Data Center Backup and Recovery Solutions report (January 2021). The report is based on verified reviews from customers that have deployed the solutions.
