Schneider Electric, a key player in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, recently named Asaf Ahmad as the new Senior Cybersecurity Governance Officer for the Pacific Zone.

Ahmad, a veteran with over 35 years of experience, has a Master of Technology in Management and Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He will be instrumental in guiding and improving Schneider Electric's cybersecurity stance within the Cybersecurity Governance, Risk, and Compliance division. Ahmad will aid business enablement to reduce risk while constantly developing its proficiency across the corporation.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Pacific Zone team and looking forward to leveraging my previous experience to deliver the business’ strategic vision, while protecting and managing cybersecurity risks to Schneider Electric, its customers, and other stakeholders,” Ahmad says.

Prior to joining Schneider Electric, Ahmad held positions in both the private and government sectors implementing information security management systems. His past roles include system engineering, digital, and advanced control in oil and gas refineries, and serving as the Chief Information Security Officer at Fire & Rescue NSW.

“My vision for the role is to support Schneider Electric’s talented team and its existing partnerships across the stakeholder ecosystem to raise the cyber resilience bar,” Ahmad comments.

Ahmad continues to preside over the board of directors for the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), contributing to cybersecurity professional leadership and certifications to tackle the burgeoning cybersecurity needs of the industry. He also volunteers as NSW Cyber Security Ambassador for Investment NSW, addressing the talent shortage in the cyber security sector by urging more youth to join this rapidly evolving, stimulating field.
