Vertiv Masterclass in Singapore spotlights AI in infrastructure

Vertiv recently held a Masterclass event in Singapore, attracting approximately 200 attendees. The audience comprised data centre consultants, contractors, designers, and operators, keen on exploring the latest industry trends and technological advancements.

This annual Masterclass series focuses on power protection, thermal management, and other crucial aspects of critical infrastructure. It aims to provide continuing education and facilitate knowledge transfer through interactive discussions and technical presentations.

The 2024 edition primarily highlighted the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on critical infrastructure and the challenges posed by high-density and high-performance compute deployments. The event commenced with welcome remarks from Kwang Chin Chong, Vertiv's sales director for Singapore. Keynote presentations followed, featuring Danny Wong, senior director for global and regional accounts in Southeast Asia, and Alvin Cheang, high-density compute business director for Asia. Both speakers emphasised AI's significant influence and showcased Vertiv's solutions, notably the Vertiv 360AI.

Another featured speaker, Dr. Gabriel Noaje, business development lead for supercomputing and HPC at NVIDIA APAC, delivered insights on building AI factories and next-generation data centres.

A panel discussion moderated by Hitesh Prajapati, Vertiv's vice president for Southeast Asia sales, revolveed around the theme, "Overcoming the real-world complexities of high-density AI deployments." The panel included Darryll Howell, Chief Executive Officer of RED Engineering; Er. Joseph Goh, managing director of DLM Pte Ltd.; and Simon Brady, product manager for Vertiv. They offered practical insights and real-world experiences from their respective fields.

In the afternoon, attendees were divided into mechanical and electrical tracks, which included detailed sessions on high-density power distribution, liquid cooling, and the Vertiv AI reference design.

The Masterclass series will continue with upcoming sessions planned in Malaysia and the Philippines.
