The New Zealand government has renewed its all-of-government Software Framework Agreement with Oracle for secure cloud and technology services.
The contract is led by the Te Tari Taiwhenua Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) and allows all government agencies in the country to get software licences, appliances, cloud solutions and services from Oracle under standardised terms.
The New Zealand government is focusing on a ‘Cloud First Policy’ which intends to streamline operations, generate new delivery methods and improve citizen experiences.
The framework agreement was first put in place in 2016, and the renewal will see Oracle continue to supply its cloud portfolio and services for Oracle cloud.

A range of New Zealand government agencies have benefited from the previous Framework Agreement since its inception six years ago, including the DIA, which implemented Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP as part of transforming its financial systems in 2019, as well as the Ministry of Social Development and ACC in 2022.
The company’s Fusion Cloud Applications are designed especially for mission-critical workloads such as financial, human capital management, supply chain, customer experience and other applications.
These offerings equip users with built-in security and disaster recovery and are able to scale to the individual needs of an enterprise.
In addition, they are constantly evolving, with Oracle carrying out regular updates that take advantage of the most recent improvements in machine learning, AI, and other technologies, without needing to rebuild from scratch.
Further, the company’s Global Cloud regions offer Oracle Cloud services that include Compute (CPU and GPU virtual machine and bare metal), Storage (block, object, and archive storage, including new immutable object storage capabilities), Oracle Database and Oracle Exadata Cloud Services, FastConnect, Identity and Access Management, Key Management Service, and Load Balancer.

It was developed with a specific focus on addressing the government’s cloud needs, such as data residency requirements and compliance.
