NextDC has debuted its OneDC data center infrastructure management-as-a-service platform, offering up real-time data center intelligence in the cloud from a consolidated view of infrastructure and assets across multiple facilities.
The global ‘data center-neutral’ DCIMaaS platform can be customised to connect any device in a data center environment, including own premises, and replaces multiple systems and management tools with one central, cloud-based software platform to provide a consolidated view of infrastructure and assets and improve operational efficiency and deliver business insights.
David Dzienciol, NextDC’s group executive, customer and technology, says the data center and interconnection company saw a need for a DCIM platform with the same level of industry neutrality as its colocation and interconnection products.
“DCIM has been on people’s minds for many years, but uptake has been cautious, so we’ve designed the entire OneDC package to remove as many of the traditional roadblocks as possible, and be easily implemented into current systems,” Dzienciol says.
IDC has forecast the DCIM market to experience a 16% CAGR between 2014-2019, when it is expected to hit US$1.4 billion, while the Uptime Institute’s global 2015 Data Center Industry Survey showed 56% of respondents had either purchased a commercial DCIM solution or were considering one.
Dzienciol says as a cloud-based service, OneDC enables users to work from anywhere in the world and from any device, and access data in real-time via a dashboard interface to facilitate remote monitoring and instant decision making.
Craig Scroggie, NextDC chief executive, says the offering takes intelligence insights beyond the infrastructure ‘to make a real impact on the rest of the business’.
OneDC is being introduced to the worldwide data center community this week at Data Center World Global 2016 in Las Vegas, before its scheduled release next month.
