KuppingerCole says EPDR market to reach USD$33.8 billion by 2025

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Analysts from KuppingerCole have predicted that the Endpoint Protection, Detection and Response (EPDR) market is set to reach USD$33.8 billion by 2025.

This comes at a time when an increase in malware and ransomware attacks has led many companies to actively search for more efficient and effective solutions.

KuppingerCole says many cybersecurity vendors have combined Endpoint Protection (EPP), which encompasses next-generation anti-malware, application controls, and URL filtering with EDR solutions, as it simplifies deployment and management for customers.

This creates the concept of EPDR, which analysts consider very efficient because it combines malware prevention and post-compromise detection and remediation capabilities into a single agent.

EPDR solutions also log activities centrally, which allows administrators to examine endpoints remotely and facilitate enterprise-wide investigations and proactive threat hunts.

KuppingerCole's research indicates that the EPDR market is growing steadily, showing no signs of major ups and downs in the near future.

Analysts say that this can be explained by the maturity of the market and by the obligation for all end-user computers, smartphones, and tablets to have EPDR clients installed, preferably with up-to-date subscriptions.

Moreover, the Compound Annual Growth Rate estimated for this segment reaches around 17.8%, which analysts say is an indicator of stability rather than exponentiality in the forecast.

This growth can be said to be attributed to the increasing number of computing devices that need EPDR protection as well as the continuing proliferation of malware-based attacks such as ransomware.

Currently, the regions that lead the coverage of this solution in the market are North America and EMEA, followed by APAC. Other regions are lagging in EPDR uptake, but that is likely to improve.

Earlier this year, in its evaluation of 10 leading endpoint security solutions, KuppingerCole named Sophos in its Leadership Compass for Endpoint Protection, Detection, and Response.

The company was named as a Leader in all four evaluation categories—Product, Innovation, Market, and Overall Leadership—and awarded Sophos perfect scores in Security, Functionality, Interoperability, and Usability.

As part of this process, KuppingerCole evaluated endpoint security vendors on their ability to detect and prevent malware from executing on devices and perform the full range of standard EDR functions. This included actions such as monitoring for indicators of compromise (IoCs), conducting investigations and threat hunts, and initiating response and remediation actions.

SentinelOne also earned 5-star ratings in the 2022 Leadership Compass for EPDR, with the company receiving top ratings across security, usability, deployment, and interoperability.
