Kordia appoints Emily Reeve as Executive General Manager of Legal & Risk

Kordia has welcomed Emily Reeve as their new Executive General Manager - Legal and Risk. In her new role, Reeve will be reporting to Kordia’s Chief Executive Officer, holding a position in Kordia's Executive, managing legal, risk and company secretary functions for the group.

Reeve joins Kordia having a robust in-house counsel background. In her latest employment, she served Constellation Brands as the Director of Legal, and fulfilled the roles of Privacy Officer and Head of Risk. Previous roles include a potent period at Vocus Group, where she held dual positions as General Counsel and GM Regulatory for over six years, offering legal oversight on numerous intricate projects including the merger with 2Degrees.

Reeve's impressive academic background includes graduating top of her cohort with an LLB (Hons) from Otago University, and serving as the Research Assistant to the Dean. She was also a Russell McVeagh University Scholar. She started her professional career as a solicitor in Russell McVeagh's Auckland corporate team, before securing an Associate role at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London in 2012. Some notable achievements during her tenure at Freshfields include managing complex cross-border M&A transactions for listed entities, including the US$44 billion merger of cement manufacturers Holcim and Lafarge.

Moving back to New Zealand in 2015 allowed her to make a professional switch to in-house counsel, commencing at Orion Health before moving to General Counsel at Vocus New Zealand (now 2degrees).

Throughout her career, Reeve has received numerous accolades signifying her expertise. She was the recipient of the title Young In-House Lawyer of the Year at the New Zealand Law Awards in 2018, with a following Excellence Award in the same category two years later. She was also recognised by NZ Lawyer as an Elite Woman in 2022, a Rising Star in their inaugural list in 2020 and selected as an In-House Leader in 2019.
