FYI, this story is more than a year old

Future Market Insights has shared light on the state of the current phone tripod market, revealing a variety of challenges and successes.

The study found that as travel and photography opportunities have increased, so has the use of foldable and extendable tripods for phones.

There are a variety of benefits for phone tripods, with the research highlighting that they make it easy and comfortable to take long-exposure photographs. Without a mobile tripod, it is often inconvenient and difficult to take a long exposure on a phone.

Phone tripod manufacturers are said to be making more innovative products, which turn out to be better for people to enhance their experiences and lead to convenience, thus driving the phone tripod market.

Instances like taking selfies and TikToks are also driving the trend, as tripods can often facilitate smooth and easy movement that can be restricted to a single plane, which is useful in these scenarios.

The best iPhone tripods and smartphone supports were found to be small, quick and simple, allowing for many new shooting opportunities.

Digital transformation has also played a part, and a more pocketable and portable version of phone tripods is being sought after by customers as they start to transform their operating ways.

There are also a number of challenges in the market. Finding the right size and ease of use is tricky as there is a lack of a “one size fits all” mentality in the market.

A few offerings use features like telescoping tripod legs that stash inside of themselves, and some are made of light but sturdy materials such as carbon fibre and aluminium. However, these tripods still take up an excessive amount of space or weight.

Companies are also focusing on technological advances around the product development space, and this is impacting the speed of new offerings.

A considerable section of the population in the US falls in the category of a technology freak or an avid traveller, which is also keeping the global phone tripod market at a high growth rate. In addition to this, mobile phone accessories are a booming business in Asia-Pacific.

Significant growth trajectory is driven by the rising demand for portable and wireless devices in these regions, stoked by diligent marketing via social media.

The Covid-19 pandemic is said to have depressed manufacturing as well as R&D for the accessories industry as a whole, however FMI says the popularity and demand for tripods have not been subdued.
