Equinix tops global data center rankings in latest Cloudscene report
Data center directory provider Cloudscene has ranked the world's top data centers by region - and Equinix tops the list across all four regions.
The rankings analysed more than 4900 data centers and colocation providers in Asia, Oceania, EMEA and North America.
The analysis is the result of increasing demand for more transparency and independent data that compares global data centers.
"We live in a fast-paced world where there is an expectation that information will be at your fingertips 24/7 and, until Cloudscene, this wasn't the case when it came to finding a colocation data center, comments Cloudscene founder Beval Slattery.
"Now, we're responding to market demands for neutral and independent data that helps with weighing up data center operators across important colocation regions.
The rankings were populated using a combined score of density (number of facilities) and connectivity (number of PoPs).
While Equinix came out on top, Global Switch also had a top five presence in Asia, Oceania and EMEA.
Notable mentions included top data center, which was Equinix's SG1 data center in Singapore. Singapore also had the top data center ecosystem in Asia and Megaport took out the top network fabric in Asia.
In Oceania, Equinix's SY3 Sydney data center gained a notable mention for top data center. Sydney fared well for the top data center ecosystem and Megaport as the top network fabric.
The rankings also found that 9.5% of the 14,000 PoPs were in Asia and 8.5% in Oceania. North America and Europe took out the majority of PoPs with 41.6% and 40.4% respectively.
40% of publicly listed data center providers in Asia and 50% in Oceania made the leaderboard, compared to 70% of those in North America.
