DataCentres Ireland 2018 heralded as a great success
Ireland possesses a burgeoning data center industry, hence the importance of events that brings the businesses together and allows for networking and the sharing of insights.
One of these such events is Data Centers Ireland, which took place this year in late November at the RDS venue in Dublin.
Perhaps an indication of the industry's progress – in addition to the meticulous organisation of the even – is that this year Data Centers Ireland brought in more than 1,600 attendees, an increase of 10 percent from the previous year the largest attendance in the event's history.
According to Stepex (the organisers of the event) managing director Hugh Robinson, this year the event was focused on quality over quantity, an emphasis that exhibitors asserted to be a success.
“We're delighted with what we got out of Data Centers Ireland, we had some really solid enquiries and made contacts in organisations that we have been targeting for a number of years, which we would not have achieved if we had not been exhibiting,” says Hellerman Tyton Ireland country manager Jason Cummins.
The conference programme featured keynote presentation from Host in Irelands Garry Connelly, Facebook's Niall McEntegart, and Minister of State for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection Pat Breen.
These presentations resulted in standing room only.
“Congratulations to the whole Stepex team on an excellent Data Centers Ireland 2018. The speaker line-up was exceptional. You managed to get all the key public sector agencies and the government to present and engage,” says Arup director Tom Blake.
“You also got the hyperscales. The exhibitors were equally good. Liquid cooling is maturing nicely, I learned, and is now ready for largescale deployment. Well done again.
Robinson says the size of the event – not too big, not too small – allows exhibitors and delegates to properly engage with each other to network and do business.
“Just wanted to say thank you for the invite to participate in the Data Centers Ireland at the RDS in Dublin this week,” says BitPower CEO David McAuley.
“This event gets better every year. It provides an ideal focal point for suppliers, policymakers, utilities and data center developers/operators to interact in an informal setting. So many conversations, I didn't see the two days passing.
Robinson is confident in the event's future as it continues to grow and evolve.
“The success of this year's Data Centers Ireland can be judged by the number of companies who have already booked their place at the 2019 event,” says Robinson.
“Over 70 percent of the total space booked at this year's event has already been reserved by this year's exhibitors and this is before the main sales campaign begins
