NTT Communications has opened a new data center in Bangkok, Thailand, boasting 3800 square meters of server room, equivalent to 1400 racks, putting it in the top tier of Thailand's data centers.

The US$32 million four-story facility, located in the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate in the suburbs of Bangkok, is the first data center to have been certified by the Board of Investment of Thailand, a government agency promoting investment in Thailand.

NTT is targetting the data center services at mission critical financial institutions and core systems of enterprises, as well as for backup purposes and says the facility is well suited to business continuity planning (BCP) with fully equipped offices complete with emergency generators for BCP use.

The company says Thailand is continuing to attract global enterprises, with locally based financial institutions and other multinational companies increasingly demanding outsourced data centers to optimise their ICT environments.

A redundant dual-path guarantees 99.9999% power availability, which NTT says is ‘unrivaled' in Thailand, while air conditioning features an N+1 redundant configuration and security can be tailored for companies requiring extra-rigiourous solutions.

The data center is carrier neutral, enabling the use of multiple carriers to establish redundant networks.

NTT Communications says the Thailand Bangkok 2 Data Center is located in a low flood risk area, more than 4.0 meters above sea level with its entire perimetre surrounded by floodwalls standing 4.7m above sea level.

The company says being 70km from Bangkok, the data center is far from any likely political disturbances.

NTT Com says it expects to further strenthen its data center services and other ICT solutions in the growing Thai market going forward.
